In the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas,

Jury verdict 4.1 million dollars, including 1.4 million dollars in punitive damages, on a claim for intentional infliction of emotional distress, battery, conversion, breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of confidential relationship. Jury verdict 2.75 million dollars in a claim involving the wrongful death of two individuals and serious injuries to a third. Products liability against a national manufacturer and other negligence claims were resolved prior to trial under a confidential arrangement, resulting in multimillion dollar payments to our clients, over and above the $2,750,000 verdict. Jury verdict $3,125,000 in a medical malpractice case against a hospital and an emergency room doctor for failure to diagnose and adequately treat a fractured pelvis, resulting in otherwise avoidable surgery, permanent limitation and lost earning capacity.

Jury verdict $971,000 in a products liability case following a construction accident. This was a claim against the manufacturer of a 7-ton roller which crushed the leg of a worker. After eight days of trial, the jury concluded that the product was defectively designed, causing the significant crush injury to the plaintiff.
Jury verdict in the amount of $500,000 in a medical malpractice case against an oral-maxillary surgeon for failure to refer a patient after nerve damage from wisdom tooth removal.
Jury verdict against the Delaware River Port Authority, $475,000 to a truck driver who was injured when he fell from a negligently loaded truck.
Jury verdict $450,000 in a medical malpractice case, to a single mother whose tuberculosis went undiagnosed.

Jury verdict $120,000 to a woman who slipped and fell on ice in a parking lot, injuring her hand and knee.

Jury verdict $75,000 for injury in a motor vehicle accident which resulted in worsening of pre-existing back injuries.

Jury verdict $75,000 in a premises liability claim for lacerated tendon resulting from a mirror falling from a wall in the plaintiff's apartment.
Jury verdict $75,000 in a dental malpractice case, to a local radio personality who suffered personal injury as a result of negligently performed cosmetic dentistry.
Bench verdict $600,000 ($350,000 compensatory, $250,000 punitive) in a claim in which an individual riding a bicycle was assaulted and pushed into oncoming traffic, sustaining significant injuries to his leg.
Jury verdict $50,000 in an automobile accident case where an individual suffered from whiplash for five months.
Jury verdict $150,000 to a gentleman who sustained a lumbar herniated disc as a result of a head-on motor vehicle collision. The verdict included $50,000 to the plaintiff?s wife for loss of consortium.
In the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania,
Jury verdict $75,000 to a woman in an automobile accident case, for neck and back complaints.
Settlements:
$4.2 million to the estate of a 65-year-old woman and her surviving twin sister, in a product defect claim against a major international household product manufacturer. $200,000 of the settlement proceeds were earmarked for charitable donations in memory of the deceased sister. A signfificant, non-economic aspect of the settlement was negotiated. The product manufacturer agreed in writing to review and change the product's packaging and its chemical makeup, in light of the product defect claims brought by our office.
$3.2 million in a claim resulting from a chain-collision automobile accident. The injured driver had what initially appeared to be mild low back and neck injuries. When symptoms persisted, neck surgery was recommended. Following the surgery, the injured driver became a quadriplegic.
$2.1 million settlement to the estate of a 32-year-old woman who sustained significant brain damage as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
$695,000 settlement in a claim brought by a local television newscaster for back injuries sustained as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
$274,500 to two individuals injured when a fire broke out at the Conshohocken trash-to-steam plant, where one individual sustained psychological damage as a result of seeing a co-worker burned to death.
One million dollars to an airline employee who sustained crush injuries to his legs as a result of a motor vehicle accident which occurred on the airfield.
1.4 million dollar payment to the estate of a 19-year-old killed in a motor vehicle accident. Claims were also settled with the City of Philadelphia for negligent highway design, which contributed to the happening of the accident.
$575,000 to the estate of a young lady who died as a result of an emergency room doctor's negligence in not diagnosing a pulmonary embolism. This case was tried and resulted in a hung jury. Settlement was reached the next day.
$150,000 to a 68-year-old woman in a podiatric malpractice case involving failure to diagnose a neuropathy which eventually led to amputation of several toes.
$145,000 for a fractured ankle resulting from a slip-and-fall on ice in a parking lot.
$135,000 to a woman who suffered a fracture ankle, which required surgery and screw implantation.
$100,000 in a motor vehicle accident in New Jersey in which the injured driver was sideswiped.
$150,000 in an automobile accident case in Maryland, in which an elderly gentleman was a passenger in a vehicle that was struck from behind at a red light.
$140,000 in a products liability action against a major car manufacturer in a case in which a vehicle caught fire and the driver had to dive from the burning vehicle, injuring his knee and shoulder.
$225,000 in a medical malpractice case to a 74-year-old gentleman who suffered partial loss of vision in his right eye as a result of his optometrist?s failure to diagnose a detached retina.
In excess of one million dollars to a young lady who suffered paralysis as a result of a motor vehicle accident. The settlement included $300,000 paid by the surgeon who attended to her after the accident, and over $500,000 paid by the municipality responsible for maintenance of the intersection where the accident happened.
$47,000 in a slip-and-fall case in which the plaintiff slipped and fell on ice in his employer?s parking lot, fracturing an ankle. The claim was brought against the snow removal company responsible for maintaining the parking lot.
$125,000 in a premises liability action against the owner of a storage facility who failed to properly maintain common areas. The plaintiff sustained injuries to wrist and neck.
$100,000 to the employee of a trucking company who sustained low-back injury in a rear-end motor vehicle accident, requiring extensive therapy and some time missed from work.
$625,000 settlement for a truck driver who suffered a significant worsening of a low back condition, which resulted in partial disability.
$300,000 to a truck driver who suffered a knee injury requiring 2 surgeries following a slip-and-fall at a truck loading dock.
Confidential Settlement in a medical malpractice case involving the loss of a plaintiff?s fetal remains following an emergency dilation & evacuation. Following significant complications during pregnancy, defendants recommended D&E, as the placenta had abrupted and the mother was close to death. Prior to the procedure, the mother requested that the remains be preserved for proper burial. Through a chain of errors, the hospital lost the remains for more than six months. In addition to the monetary settlement, the hospital gave written assurance that the hospital procedures and protocols would be reviewed and modified so as to ensure that no such event would occur in future.
Confidential Settlement in a psychiatric malpractice case involving the suicide of a young man prematurely released from a psychiatric facility. In addition to the monetary settlement, the plaintiff received written assurance that the facility would review its involuntary commitment policies and procedures to ensure proper evaluation of dual-diagnosis patients prior to discharge from the facility.
